I wanted to do something patriotic for July 4th besides having the boys put up flags in the neighborhood. I saw an advertisement in the news about a little ceremony they do at the Ft. Sam Houston Cemetary. So, we went. It was a short 1 hour ceremony outside. Luckily it was cloudy because the humidity was high and a little bit miserable. The kids were not as excited with the ceremony as I was.
I thought it was neat because those representing the soldiers were in period dress. They had a little band that they would have had. It was fun and scary watching them fire the muskets after every colony was called. I really liked it, but the kids were ready to go.
In the afternoon we had the Moore's over for a dinner of hamburgers, hot dogs, and yummy fruit. They played hide and go seek, legos, and at the end we made water balloons that they popped and played with on the trampoline. To finish off the night, we were able to go to the Vaughns to watch the fireworks from their balcony.
