Blake

Blake has grown up a lot these past few weeks. Here are a few of the things he has been up to.

In the past couple of weeks Blake has discovered a whole new world. He figured out that there are lots of fun things in the kitchen cabinets. He is enjoying getting inside of them and taking all the Tupperware, pans, cutting boards, bowls, plates, and cups out of them.
Blake started exploring the bottom couple of steps about a month ago. He was a little cautious at first and was hesitant to go up. Recently he figured out how fun it is to go all the way up the stairs. Anytime they are in sight he heads straight for them. He looks back knowing that it is not allowed.
Blake also recently has become very picky with baby food. He would only eat sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, and bananas with berries or strawberries. He would gag on anything that he didn't like or also if it was too thick for him. We finally figured that he was becoming picky because he really wanted to eat regular food. He is doing a great job with the new tasty table food that he gets to eat now.
Blake is getting big and starting to look like a little boy and not so much like a baby. He especially looks cute in some jeans and a T-shirt. I enjoy hearing him laugh when the kids are playing with him. It is so cute to see the kids doing silly things to make him laugh really hard.

Monkey anyone?

We have had a couple of crazy weeks. Through the whole process I wished we could find a monkey to rent.

Razzle Dazzle Robots

I am trying to be a nice Mom during Kylee and Brayden's 3 week break of school so I am setting up activities for them to go to. This Wednesday they went to a class put on by the Cary parks and recreation. Their class was making robots. They were pretty excited Brayden has been wanting to make a robot for a while now. Everytime he picks up a random piece of "treasure" off the ground he says that he will use it to build his robot. I think that they were expecting to make real robots that could work for them by doing their chores. I decided to break the news that it was only going to be a robot made out of crafts. Brayden said, "but it still will make money right?"
I was happy to see they were super excited for the robots they made. I think they did a great job.

Summertime

I enjoy having conversations with Julia. Here are a few of the silly things she does.

I went to the store and found a cute shirt and skirt for Julia. I told Julia that it is perfect for the summertime. Well she told Matt, I am going to summertime. She will ask me when are we going to summertime? She will also tell people in the store that she is going to summertime. So if anyone can tell me where summertime is so I can take Julia.

Julia is very formal about things. She needs to say good morning to us everyday. If she doesn't get a response back she will continue to say it until she does. She will also remind me to say good morning to everyone in our family.

After Julia's bath she gets dressed by herself and has to say "SURPRISE" before she gets milk to drink before bed. If we saw her dressed before she was able to say surprise she gets very upset.

Julia is our prayer patrol. During the prayer if there is someone not bowing their head or folding their arms, Julia will let them know. She continues to tell them until it is done.

A month ago Julia got in trouble for disobeying. After she had to be in time out she said, "Will you please be nice to me? You hurt my feelings." Of course that made me get all teary eyed. I felt so bad. I think she saw how it affected me and has continued to use the phrase every time she is told to do something.

Matt's conversation with Brayden
This morning Brayden was looking through the mail on the counter and noticed a pamphlet advertising an ophthalmology conference with two photographs of eyes placed side by side without any other parts of the face visible.

Brayden exclaimed, "OH! What's wrong with that guy? What happened to his nose?"

I was getting breakfast and said, "I am not sure."

"But you saw him."

"No, I didn't. It is just a picture that came in the mail."

"But you did see him, you are an eye dentist."

All day Brayden has been talking about the scary picture and has been afraid to go up stairs alone because of the monster with no nose.
