Easter with GraMindy

Grandma Mindy had a conference in Comfort,TX the week of Easter, so conveniently she was able to just stick around a few days longer and celebrate the holiday with us.

Brayden prayed about having the Easter bunny hide eggs instead of having the basket all ready.

It worked and they got an easter egg hunt with eggs hidden around our back yard.

Family Pictures 2011

My Mom likes to have pictures done of each of her grandchildren at the age of 2.  Blake's birthday was coming up and he would soon be 3, so we decided to take some family pictures.

 

 

 

 

Fiesta

Each year  in April San Antonio has a special 10 day celebration called fiesta.  The tradition honoring the heros of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto started in 1891 when a group of ladies decorated horse-drawn carriages, paraded in front of the Alamo, and pelted each other with flower blossoms.   Today there are more than 100 events throughout the city which include various parades throughout the week. A king and queen are crowned each year.  At school the kids get the Battle of the Flowers day off and it is one of the 3 parties they are allowed to have during the school year.  

As part of the celebration the pre-K and kindergarten classes get to make a float and parade them around the school with the older kids lining the hallways watching.  Julia wanted a princess float with a castle.

We helped her decorate a shoebox with ribbons, a castle, and her little Disney princesses.

Kylee was at Bob Lewis when she was in Kindergarten so this is the float that she made.

A Birthday Cake for Matt

Matt is really good about making creative cakes for everyone on their birthday.  We tried to live up to the tradition and make Matt a cake with a little creativity.  We decided to do a camping theme since Matt likes to go camping.

Bug Eyes

LASIK patients wear protective goggles while they sleep for the first week after surgery to keep them from rubbing their eyes.  The logistics person at the refractive surgery center accidentally ordered a shipment of the the wrong goggles, so Matt brought some home for the kids to test out.  They actually have a bunch of tiny holes in them so you can see.  After trying them on the kids all ran around the house buzzing like crazy house flies.  If that is the effect they illicit the old goggles are probably safer for patients.
