The Moore's invited us to go ice skating on December 22, 2015. The Herreras were also invited but were not able to go. We went as a family with grandma Mindy and met the Moore's there. The free skate was from 12:30 to 3 pm and we got there at one. Matt bought our whole family tickets but I did not skate at the beginning. Matt went and skated with the kids, while Mandy, Austin GraMindy, Asher and I went upstairs to watch them skate from a window. We watched as Matt helped each of the kids get more comfortable Ice skating. Some caught on quicker than others. There was a break at 1:30 where they cleaned the ice. Brayden noticed he had lots of blisters, so I helped him get some Band-Aids to cover them and larger skates. I got skates for myself and got on the ice with Matt's help. Blake caught on quickly how to skate or get around the rink. Julia stayed close to the walls and didn't really get off the walls and skate by herself. Brayden was skating by himself but seemed a little out of control. Kylee was skating around slowly and did better when she was holding on to someone. Julia took a break and went upstairs to be with grandma Mindy. That is when I went out to skate. Blake was a champ and stayed out there skating the whole two hours. He did more of a walk, shuffle skate. I was skating around with Kylee holding her hand. Matt was helping Julia after she came back from her break. Brayden was skating around by himself. Brayden ran into Julia and Matt and they fell down. Julia was sad. We took some pictures. Right after the pictures we were skating again and I was with Kylee. Brayden skated up to us to grab on my hand. He was a little out of control and pulled me down. As soon as I hit it the ice I knew my arm was broken. I put my left hand down to try and catch my fall. Luckily Matt was right there close by and a safety employee was also there. I pulled back the sleeve on my jacket and saw that most definitely my arm was broken. They helped me get up and skate off the ice holding my arm. They took me to the first aid room. I sat down and tried to breathe and be calm so that I wouldn't pass out. I felt hot and sweaty. They brought me some ice cold water, which helped me not pass out. They put ice on my arm to help. Matt went and got all the kids ready to go. There was only 10 minutes left of free skate time. We took one last group picture with the Moore's, then headed off to the hospital. It was a painful ride with every bump and turn hurting my wrist more. It took us a half hour to get to BAMC, the military hospital. Grandma Mindy stayed in the car with the kids, while Matt took me inside. Almost everyone was asleep. Matt was with me when I got triaged and went to the back to get worked on. They put an IV in and tried to get me comfortable. While I was waiting to get x-rays Matt decided to take everyone home. He left at about 4:30. He took them home and drove through taco cabana to get them food for dinner. Because of traffic he was not able to make it back until 630. It was perfect timing because that was when they were getting ready to reset it and cast it. They numbed me up really well and hung my hand by my thumb from a pole to try and get it back into place. It took some maneuvering to get it in the right position.
