Julia's Market Days

Julia was given an assignment to choose a service to provide or craft to make for the 2nd grade market days.  At first she wanted to do massages.  I suggested maybe we should consider other options.  I'm not sure how well that would go.  I tried to give her some craft ideas, but she settled on providing the service of magic tricks.  If we weren't procrastinators we would have taken a little time to prepare and maybe order some things.  We ended up going online to find some easy tricks Julia could learn quickly using supplies we had at home.  She ended up having 4 tricks.

The goods she purchased were a dream catcher from Gabriel, a flower picture from Bella, a bandaloom bracelet chain from Lauren, a shoe shining from Fielden Key, and she went to Marcela's Salon and took off her shoes and put her foot and hand in Orbeez spa beads.  She had her hair done and her nails painted with water colors.  

Kuentz Kamps

Towards the end of school the kids are burned out and don't really want to do much school work.  I was impressed with the school because they do these Kuentz Kamps.
The Kamps were on May 15th, 16th, 19th, 20th, and 21st. They sent home pamphlets with a list of all the classes offered for the kids to choose what they wanted to go to.  They had a week to return their top 3 choices. Some of the options were: Crazy about Science, Dancing Dudes and Divas, Mixing up Healthy Snacks, Fairy tales with a Twist, Around the World in Five Days, Grillin', Sew Much Fun, Poetry with Pizzazz, Animal Silhouettes, and Zumba Fun.  Being new to the school we did not know that they fill up really, really fast.  Brayden turned his in the first day, but his top choices were already gone.  He was really bummed about what his options were and didn't really want to choose.  I let him know that he better choose quickly from what he had left so that he wouldn't get stuck with something that he really didn't want to do.  He ended up choosing Games From the Past.  When he came home the first day, he said that he wished he had done the healthy snacks because they got to make smoothies, then later they did pizza and quesadillas. On Brayden's first day they spinned tops, he said they watched a neat video of a guy doing tricks with spinning tops. On the 2nd day they played jacks - he said he got the lowest score and that the 2nd day was worst than the first.  On the 3rd day they did marbles and the 4th they did pick up sticks.  The last day they were able to choose to take home a game and he chose pick up sticks.

Julia had the P.E. coach, Coach Decker and did art work on old wood.  On the first day they got a notebook where they sketched out a couple of pictures. The 2nd day she worked on the silhouettes of the flower.  The 3rd day they painted the background.  The 4th day they painted a flower, and the 5th they did the final details.  Julia really enjoyed it and has requested to hang it in her bedroom.

Mother's Day

In the Kindergarten year at Kuentz they do a Mommy makeover to celebrate Mother's day.  The father's donate food for the event and the students do the makeover on their Mom's.  Ms. Brun's did a great job with decorations and setting everything up.  When you get to your seat there was  a cookbook  and cards.  Blake painted my nails and combed my hair.  I don't really wear make-up, so I didn't bring any for him to use.  It was fun and a  great way to spend some time with Blake.

On Mother's day Matt and the kids made me crepes and chocolate covered strawberries.  So very tasty and a day that everyone looks forward to because of the crepes.

Tooth Fairy Refund

Brayden had a tooth that came out and he put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy.  He wasn't really happy with her going rate for teeth.  Since Grandpa was coming in town and he pays more for the teeth, he decided to put his money back under the pillow and ask for his tooth back.  He got his tooth back, so he was able to sell it to Grandpa when he came in town and got his $5.  Julia also had a tooth to sell to Grandpa, who says he sells them in turn to the "rata" for more.

Easter

Easter dinner landed on our family's turn for Sunday dinner.  So, Cynthia and I split up the work and filled a total of 150-200 eggs so we could do an easter egg hunt at our house.  We put money in 12 eggs.  Most had a dollar and three of them had five dollars.  Julia, Isa, and Gabby got the big money. After the hunt there was lots of sorting and wheeling and dealing of candies.

Matt's 39th Birthday

Things were a little hectic for Matt's 39th Birthday, so our family celebration was a little "thrown together".  We didn't even decorate a cake.  Luckily Matt's co-workers at the laser center came through and made him a lunch of tacos.

piano performance for judging

It was the first time for Brayden and Kylee to go and play the piano in front of judges.  It was at the UTSA building.  I stayed home with the younger kids while Matt took them.  He was not? in the room when they performed.  He took pictures of them in the practice rooms before they went and played.
