Asher medal

Asher has recently wanted to get his own medal.  Blake has gotten medals for soccer, so he wants to do soccer so he can get a medal.  We got an email from Mrs. Cissell saying that Asher was going to be receiving the character medal at the assembly on Friday morning.  It came in perfect timing to get nominated for a medal in his kindergarten class for character habits 4-6.  There were two from each class that got the medals.  He saw us during the assembly and was showing us his medal.  You could tell he was excited. He was happy to see us and be there for the medal presentation.

Book character parade

For the reading celebration they had a book character day.  They dressed up as book character of their choice and had a parade.  We were lazy and the boys were ok with using their Halloween costumes for their book character, so Asher was the lorax and blake was sam i am.  Kylee did great with painting Asher's lorax mustache and eyebrows.

Asher's 1st lost tooth

A few weeks before Asher was complaining that his tooth was hurting him and that he couldn't eat.  I had no idea that he had a loose tooth because it was a lot earlier than any of the other kids lost their first tooth. He ended up loosing his tooth while at school.  It fell out and was in his mouth.  He was able to get a tooth necklace to bring the tooth home in it.  He was excited about loosing his tooth and getting money from the tooth fairy.  The tooth fairy in our house is very forgetful.  Asher was carrying his tooth around the first night, so when it came time to go to bed he couldn't find it.  The 2nd night he put it under his pillow, but the tooth fairy did not show up.  Finally on the 3rd night the tooth fairy came and gave him two dollars.  He was pretty excited.

Halloween 2018

During spring break on our way up to Canyon Lake we were watching the Lorax.  We got the idea to do the theme of Dr. Seuss at that time.  We told the Herreras about it and they were totally on board.  We thought of all different options and there was plenty to choose from.  We were sad that the Herreras moved away and wouldn't be a part of our extended family theme as we had done in years past.

As Halloween got closer we needed to figure out the characters we were going to be.  At first Kylee was not going to be a part of it, but then decided if she could be fox in socks she would do it.  That is who Julia was going to be, but she was willing to change and be Cindy Loo Who.  For Brayden we tried to order a sweatshirt, but it turned out to be a fluorescent yellow and Brayden didn't like the color.  So, the night before Brayden  stayed up late (really late) dying a sweatshirt and sweatpants yellow so he could be a sneech.  Kylee did a great job at face painting Matt and Asher to be the Grinch and the Lorax.  It made their costumes.  Several kids at the ward activity were scared of Matt "the bishop" as the Grinch.  It is fun to dress up as a family.  It does make for a stressful time to get all the costumes together.

Air Force reunion

Val and Russ Bastian invited us over to their house for a Labor Day Air Force Academy reunion.  It was fun to do it there because the kids could have fun swimming.  It rained a little bit while we were there, so that added to the excitement.  We have not been good about getting together very often, but it was fun to catch up with everyone.  It was our first time to get together with Dixon and Karen since they moved to San Antonio.

Julia Braces

Brayden got his braces off just a month before.  I didn't plan on putting Julia's braces on until Brayden was done.  Luckily they were able to fit us in last minute and we got moving on Julia and put her braces on before school started.
