13th Anniversary

To celebrate our 13th Anniversary we ate at one of our favorite places on the Riverwalk, Boudros.  

We also celebrated by going to the Sea World water park by ourselves.  This season they updated the water park and added some fun new slides.  It is a different experience without kids.

Whetten Family Beach Reunion

The Whetten Family decided to get together for a beach vacation at South Padre Island from June 11-15.  We rented a house that the Caldwell's and Gaspar de Alba's stayed in and everyone else stayed in hotel rooms at a La Quinta right on the beach.

We went grocery shopping the morning after we arrived to get food for the week. The house became a place to hang out and eat.  That day, Tuesday, everyone came over to the house and walked a couple of blocks to the beach.  Everyone came back to the house for lunch sandwiches and the kids stayed in the afternoon and swam in the backyard pool.  We ate desebrada tacos for dinner which we had brought frozen from home.

Wednesday was more beach and pool time, with the boys going to the beach in the evening looking for little shrimp looking things. 

Thursday most of us went to South Padre Schlitterbahn.  It was a neat set up where you stayed in the water to get to different rides.  They were all connected off a big lazy river.

We drove back on Thursday afternoon.  Matt went to work on Friday and everyone else drove back from South Padre.  I had to buy Mom's present and Carlos set up a dinner for that night at Mimis Cafe to celebrate my Mom's birthday.

Saturday morning we took family pictures in our backyard with Eric's Camera set up on the play set.

Saturday some of the family left, but those who stayed went to Sea World.

On Sunday only Mom and Chantelle were left.  They toured downtown and the Alamo with Carlos. We continued Mom's birthday celebration with Marie Calendar pies.

It was fun to have everyone together and especially for the cousins to get to know each other better. We enjoyed seeing the kids split up in groups by age to play together.

Hospitality Crafts

I was the hospitality chair for Bob Lewis Elementary School for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years.  I was the only one in charge of making thank you gifts for the approximately 100 teachers and staff of the school.  I had lots of opportunity to use my Cricut machine to get crafty.

End of the school year 2011-2012

Brayden's 3rd grade teacher was Mrs. White.  He thought she was a little strict compared to his previous teacher Ms. Burell.  He was excited to get selected to be part of the school's safety patrol for the next school year. He was a little bit nervous to start the training, but loved it after he got started.

Julia and I really enjoyed Mrs. Lehr.  She was very nice.  I was able to help her with projects every Thursday when Blake would go to MDO.  I was able to go for a few hours and make copies or cut things out for her. Julia got the trustworthiness award from her teacher. She said that she could have given her any of the awards because she had all the qualities.

Kylee finished elementary school.  She shared her talent by playing the piano in her 5th grade promotion ceremony.  They got out the last day of school early, after the ceremony.  We celebrated by going out to eat at her favorite place, Olive Garden.

Kylee really liked her teacher Mrs. Miller.  She wasn't there the first 9 weeks because she had a baby. Mrs. Miller was really nice and would let them talk after they were done with their work.  They also sometimes would play a math jeopardy game that was fun.
